CU Winds Officers

Andrew Meissner, President

Hi, I’m Andrew Meissner and I am serving as president of CU Winds this year! I’m a Junior from Mount Airy, Maryland majoring in human biology, health, and society in CHE with a minor in infectious disease, and I play alto and soprano saxophone. Being in CU Winds has given me so many great memories and opportunities from playing awesome music to meeting some of my best friends, and I am so excited to continue being a part of this ensemble. In addition to playing in CU Winds, I love working in my research lab at the vet school studying salmonella, playing in my saxophone quartet, and growing succulents.

Gabrielle Garra, Vice President

Hi! My name is Gabrielle and I am serving as vice president for CU Winds this year. I am a sophomore from Long Island, NY majoring in mechanical engineering and I play the flute. I am so grateful for opportunities that CU Winds has provided and I am excited for the many more memories to come. I have met some of the most amazing people through this ensemble. Outside of CU Winds, I am vice president of Cornell Club Swim and I am on Cornell Mars Rover. I love going on runs/hikes, surfing, and competing in Spartan Races.

Jaden Lau, Treasurer

Hello, I’m Jaden Lau, an oboist in the Wind Symphony, serving as Treasurer this year! I’m a sophomore from Torrance, California, majoring in Atmospheric Sciences. This will be my fourth year playing with the Wind Symphony. I love this ensemble in the bond that is formed between members through music. Despite the challenging repertoire, it’s truely very rewarding for me to hear the end result of how far we’ve come along. As treasurer, I am fully committed to performing my duties of managing the organization’s finances and meeting fundraising goals, especially considering the Cuba tour. Outside of Wind Symphony, I am involved in the Cornell Chapter of the American Meteorological Society, three Christian fellowships, Alpha Phi Omega, as well as research focusing on precipitation, and I really enjoy the outdoors!

Camron Ray, Publicity Chair

Hey y’all my name's Camron Ray and I am hyped to serve as publicity chair! I’m a sophomore from Ann Arbor, Michigan studying Animal Science on the Pre-Vet track. I play primarily the bass clarinet with the auxiliary clarinets on the side. CU Winds has been a great way to defocus from academics and do something I enjoy. There’s always fun and jokes to be had and awesome music to perform! Outside of CU Winds I enjoy cooking, playing soccer and lacrosse, sleeping and petting animals (especially snakes).

Junoh Lee, Outreach Chair

Hi, I'm Junoh Lee I'm the Outreach Chair for the Wind Symphony. I'm a sophomore flautist and I'm majoring in music with a minor in business. I'm from Westchester but have lived in 3 countries before the US. Even though this is only my second year with the Wind Symphony, I already love this group so much. I want to continue making many more memories with this group for many years to come. Outside of Wind Symphony I'm also a part of Cornell's traditional Korean drumming group, Shimtah, where I'm able to learn some more percussive instruments, something I have never been able to do before.

Karen Mendoza, Design Chair

Hi! I’m Karen Mendoza and I hold the design chair for CU Winds this year! I am a junior from Reading, Pennsylvania studying Design & Environmental Analysis in CHE. I have enjoyed playing the alto saxophone, as well as strengthening my musicianship and meeting students across the Cornell colleges in CU Winds. I am also involved in Cornell University Sustainable Design and Human Ecology Ambassadors. Outside of class, I like making tortillas, hiking, drawing and reading in my free time. I also like insects and arachnids. If you’d ever like to meet my tarantula, Miss T, let me know!

Kate Burger, Webmaster

Hi! I’m Kate Burger and I’m the webmaster for the CU Wind Symphony this year! I am a Senior from Northern Virginia majoring in Environment & Sustainability. In addition to CU Winds I am in the Big Red Marching and the Big Red Pep Bands! In my free time I enjoy painting, working out, baking, walking dogs, catching bugs and I work in the Cornell University Insect Collection! If you ever need someone to catch a bug for you don’t hesitate to ask, I’m probably carrying my net around with me haha. I am really looking forward to helping keep this website looking tidy and up to date this year!
