Thanks to a generous donation, the Cornell Wind Ensemble will return to Costa Rica in January 2008 for another performing and outreach tour. The first donated instruments are already trickling in (see our Costa Rica Project page for details) and the Wind Ensemble students hope to collect another 35 wind, brass, and percussion instruments to donate to another needy music school in Costa Rica.

Tour preparations are already underway. "Dr. Cindi" as she is called in Costa Rica, is speaking with the conductor of the National Symphony Band to organize a joint concert. Another concert is planned for the Teatro Eugene O'Neill, the same venue that hosted Cornell in 2006. More concerts and workshops are also been planned.

In 2006, Costa Rican composer Eddie Mora Bermudez composed his "Concerto for Saxophones and Wind Ensemble," which was a wonderful success. He has again been commissioned to compose another concerto: this time for electric violin and wind ensemble! Stay tuned for more updates.
