A native of Hazleton, Pennsylvania, Matthew M. Marsit moved first to Philadelphia to complete his studies, graduating Summa Cum Laude from the Esther Boyer College of Music at Temple University. Later teaching at Drexel University, Matthew was the Director of Bands, clarinet faculty, and Director of Chamber Music for the university.
As a conductor, Matthew has been active throughout New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania. He has held the position as assistant conductor of the Chestnut Hill Orchestra, is a guest clinician for the Delaware County Youth Orchestra, the Bucks County Youth Ensembles, and has been a guest conductor with the Temple University Symphony Orchestra Brass and Percussion, Marywood University Honors Orchestra, Western Burlington County Honors String Orchestra, the Hatboro-Horsham High School Orchestra, and the Harriton High School Orchestra.
As a clarinetist, Matthew has played with many ensembles throughout the Philadelphia region, including the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, the Fairmont Chamber Orchestra, and has made solo appearances with the Drexel University Symphony Orchestra and the Chestnut Hill Orchestra. During the summer months, Matthew is a staff conductor, clarinet artist and Dean of Students for the Performing Arts Institute of Wyoming Seminary.
